CHANGING YOUR ACCENT PILLOWS AND THROWS

Hey everyone,

Today I thought I would share some pillows that I am dying to get to vamp up my house for fall and winter. It's always nice to change up your decor and to keep things fresh and updated with each season. The great thing about changing up some of your decor is that it's an easy and quick way of spicing up a space without spending too much money. Changing up your pillows and throw blankets can really change a room dramatically with a snap of a finger.

{This is a picture of how I have placed my pillows in my bedroom. This "Great Outdoor Pillow" was once in my living room but I thought it would be a cozier feel having it in the bedroom when the colder months approach}. I got my chair reupholstered but the chair linked below this picture is the same style.

I am totally one of those people that is constantly changing things around. I never like things in the same spot for too long. I am either adding pillows or removing pillows, changing my throw blankets or rearranging my decorative accents. I love change and it keeps me happy.

First off, I have linked 3 different sized pillow inserts to get you started. If you already have pillows like these for the appropriate sizes of the below covers, than you are already on the right track.

WAYS TO USE COCONUT OIL IN YOUR BEAUTY ROUTINE

Over the years, I have been using coconut oil for a lot of my go to beauty routines. I never thought that I would be resorting to one product that would meet a lot of needs in just one jar. It's 100% natural, free from chemicals, it's antibacterial and loaded with vitamins.

1. Hair Mask
It all started when the health of my hair was at it's worse. I was so desperate that I was trying every deep conditioner there was but it just wasn't cutting it. Coconut oil was my last resort and boy did I wish I had used it sooner. If you have been following me for some time you would know that I had went brunette (always being a blonde) and just couldn't get over the fact that every time I looked into the mirror, I never recognized myself. With that being said, I went back to the hair salon and had blonde put back in and that's when my hair went for the worst. My hair was super dry and my hair was breaking like you wouldn't believe. That's when I started to use coconut oil in my hair on a weekly basis for two months and my hair was 70% better than it was when I had first started. Now it's been five years and my hair is back blonde and healthy again. Amen!

{Apply it to dry or damp hair, put your hair in a top knot and go to bed or put your hair in this satin beanie so that the heat from your head will help the oil to penetrate better into your hair follicles. This will also help to keep your pillow case oil free}.

Now that my hair is healthier, I still like to do a hair mask once or twice a week...

2. Make-up Remover
I use coconut oil to remove my eye makeup (specifically mascara) almost every night whenever I am not using a different type of makeup remover. It is extremely gentle on the eyes and the mascara just melts off your lashes. Don't worry if you can't get all the oil off when you are done, rumour has it that coconut oil helps with lash growth.

{Apply a small amount to each eye. With your eyes closed, gently swipe downward and work the oil into the lash line while swiping it out to the tips of your lashes. Cleanse face when finished}

3. Face Mask
Using coconut oil as a face mask is one of my favourite things to do in my beauty routine at least once a week. Coconut oil is more hydrating than most moisturizers on the market and not to mention, it has a natural antibacterial and anti fungal benefits to it which will help with breakouts.

{After cleansing and toning your face, apply a thin layer all over your face, including around the eyes and lips. Leave it and go to bed. If you are not one to go to bed with a mask on your face then leave it on as long as you can before rinsing it off}.

4. Nails/Hands
Another favourite way to use coconut oil is using it on my hands, nails and cuticles. When my hands are at it's driest, especially during the winter months, I treat my hands in coconut oil and put silk gloves on afterwards for better absorption. I wear these gloves to bed or when I am lounging around the house and don't want to transfer the oils onto furniture and clothing.

THE GO TO FALL COAT

Outfit Details:
Top  ||  Coat  ||  Jeans  ||  Booties {Similar here & here}  ||  Sunglasses  ||  Bag  ||  Lipstick

Hey lovelies,

The weather has been up and down, one day it's hot and the next day it's pretty cool. That's when this essential coat comes in handy. This open front coat is great for fall and is a great transitional piece into those milder winter days. It's lightweight, comfortable, has open front pockets and is great piece for layering over sweaters, blouses and so much more. I am wearing an XS but if you plan on wearing heavier knit sweaters, I would recommend going up a size.

TANCEUTICALS || GO TO SELF TANNER

Hey everyone,

Today I am here with another beauty review. I get asked a lot if I use a self tanner and which one do I use or would recommend that gives a nice natural colour. Yes, I do use a self tanner and the one that I use is a must try (keep reading below).

I have tried many self tanners over the years and some were horrible (mise well say I looked like an Oompa Loompa. You know, those orange skinned characters on the Willy Wonka movie) yeah, wasn't the best look on me or on anyone for that matter. Then there were some that I really liked that gave an amazing colour but the smell of some were so unbearable and I would be so self conscious about it if I was in public. Then I finally came across Tanceuticals and my self tanning experience changed forever.

When I came across Tanceuticals I was of course a little sceptical as I always am at first when it comes to self tanners but I am always willing to try something new and give it a go. Well, I am so glad that I decided to use this line because the results were amazing and the smell of these products is so good. If you like the smell of coconuts mixed with tropical fruit then you will love these self tanners. Not to mention, Tanceuticals is also rated #1 Self Tanner on selftanning.com

All of these are great Self Tanners but if I had to chose between the lotion or the mousse, I would definitely choose the lotion. The reason being is because I find it easier to use and to apply to my skin as it's less messy. You can apply it with your hands or with the Tanceuticals Self Tanner Mitt. I use the mitt to make sure I get an even streak-free layer all over my body.

The mousse is great too as it has a "guide" when you apply it which I love. What I mean about that is when you apply it to the mitt and then start applying it to your skin in a circular motion, the colour transfers right away so you are able to see exactly where you are applying the self tanner. This is great but I do find it transfers onto my clothes throughout the day before you have a shower or if you apply it before bed it will transfer onto your sheets as well. The good news is it does come out in the wash so you don't have to worry about ruining your clothes or bedding which is a huge plus.

The face lotion is nice as well and I find you don't need a lot of this when you apply it. I like to put a thin layer all over my face and down onto my neck so it blends nicely with the rest of my body. You can also apply this with the mitt but I like to apply it with clean finger tips and then washing my hands right away after application.

The Do's and Dont's
Do's:

- Shave or Wax before
- Shower
- Exfoliate
- Wear loose clothing (optional)
- Make sure to wash your hands well after each use

Don't:
- Don't apply body cream all over the body before applying Self Tanner (on those dry areas like the knees, elbows and heels, you may apply cream to those areas only to prevent those areas from becoming darker as they are drier areas)
- Don't shower for at least 6-8 hours (it needs time to develop colour)
- Don't exercise or sweat

The Before and After
The before and after pictures below are with one use and with the Dark Lotion. Of course you could do a couple of applications to achieve a darker colour but I wanted to show you all what it looks like with just one light application. I do not have a before or after picture of the Ultra- Dark Lotion but I must say, if you want an even darker richer colour with just one use then I would really recommend getting the Ultra-Dark. Trust me when I say this, even though it is Ultra-Dark the result you get still looks natural.

Before:

After:
(Dark Lotion)

I apply Tanceuticals once a week but you can apply it as many times as you wish. I like to start exfoliating two days before I tan again to make sure I get all of the old tan off before re-applying. It is so important to make sure you have gotten majority, if not all of the old tan off first because if you apply a fresh tan on your old tan then you will definitely have some patchy areas and it wont look too pretty.

Thank you so much for stopping by, xo!!
