HOLIDAY MAKEUP PART 1

The holidays are right around the corner and when I seen this palette in the store I knew I had to have it. When I took a first look at it I knew I would be able to create a tone of eye looks with it but since Christmas is days away I created a "festive" eye look that I will most likely be wearing during the holidays.

Stay tuned for another "festive" eye look coming next week!

Here is the tutorial I created for all of you. If you follow me on Instagram you would have seen this a few days ago.

HOLIDAY HOSTEST GIFT GUIDE

When it comes to the holidays I find it challenging to come up with gift ideas to get the hostest, especially when they are the type of person that has everything already. You don't have to spend a lot on a hostest gifts unless it's someone really close to you and you know they would really appreciate a certain gift. Little gifts like wine stoppers, ornaments and Christmas crackers are cute gifts that show you appreciate them having you over.

I came up with a gift guide that will hopefully give you some ideas and inspiration for the the hostest in your life over the holidays.

MY CURRENT MAKEUP ROUTINE

I often don't change my makeup routine too often but like everything else you can get tired of the same techniques and products. I recently changed my foundation to a lighter shade "Fair-Light." I usually am always in the shade "Light" but if I am not self tanning then I need to go down to an in between shade during these colder months. I also fell back in love with winged out liner. Isn't that funny how we go back to what we used to do years ago? I was focusing more on shadows but a few weeks ago I ended up doing a look with winged out liner and I have been doing it ever since.

If you follow me on Instagram, I posted this makeup tutorial lastnight but in case you missed it you can watch the video and get product details here.

HOW TO GET GLOWING SKIN FOR FALL AND WINTER

Glowing, hydrated looking skin is pretty any time of the year but in my opinion, it's especially important during the colder months. Our skin can take a beating with the dry cold air outside and the heat inside our homes. Drinking plenty of water is the healthiest and easiest way in getting our skin hydrated but we all live busy lives and we can lack in the H20 consumption.

Using just a few beauty products can get your skin looking healthy and glowing which is why I wanted to share how I get my "Glowing Skin."

Sephora is going to be having their "Holiday Bonus Beauty Insider Event" sale for all card members.

Starting tomorrow November 9th-12th is for VIB members only. You will be able to get 20% off your purchase with CODE: VIBBONUS

Starting November 16th-19th will be for all Beauty Insider members and you will receive 15% off your purchase with CODE: BIBONUS

If you follow me on Instagram, I posted a tutorial on how I achieved this natural glowing look with just using a few products.

FALL STYLE

Fall is one of my favourite seasons for fashion. Cozy, stylish and lots of cable knit sweaters and booties is all I need to enjoy this pretty season. Which is why I rounded up some of my favourites that I currently have my eye on. What I love most about the items that I chose is that they are classic and neutral pieces that can also be worn into fall and spring. I am all for using pieces that I already have to transition into different seasons with.

URBAN DECAY NAKED PALETTE TUTORIAL

Hey everyone,

Urban Decay has been one of my favourite makeup lines since I started wearing and buying expensive makeup. The Naked palette was literally the first eyeshadow palette that I had ever bought and I am still using and loving this palette to this day. It's so universal and works great on everyone in my opinion no matter the season or skin tone.

Currently, this palette is on sale for $27 regular $54!

I will be sharing some different eye looks and tutorials with all of you using this palette. I did create one look for you so far and posted it on my Instagram account and shared more of a detailed video on my Instagram IGTV channel as well which you can watch here.

Here is a quick tutorial on one of my eye looks from the Urban Decay Naked Palette.

FANOLA NO YELLOW SHAMPOO VS THE FANOLA VEGAN NO YELLOW SHAMPOO/ MASK

As most of you all know, I have been using the Fanola No Yellow Shampoo for about a year now to eliminate brass and unwanted yellow tones in my hair. It's one of the most asked questions that I get is what do I use and what product really works.

USE MY COUPON CODE to receive 10% off any Fanola product
USE CODE: SINCERELYMISSASH at checkout at this website: Salon Guys

Fanola's regular No Yellow Shampoo line has a pH level of 5.0/ 5.2 This means the "potential hydrogen" measurement of how acidic or alkaline the substance is. Between 0- 6.9 is acidic, neutral is 7 and 7.1-14 is alkaline. I didn't know what all this meant until I researched it but the higher the pH number the stronger and more potent it is.

It's truly the best purple shampoo that I have used that actually works to eliminate yellow tones. It is very pigmented with a deep and I mean, DEEP purple hue (the deeper the purple the better) that really removes that stubborn brass on blonde or grey hair.

How it works:
- You want to apply it to wet hair
- Make sure you saturate your hair so the shampoo is all over evenly
- Depending on how brassy your hair is you may want to leave it on longer than what the bottle says.

FYI: The bottle says to leave it on for 1-5 minutes but what I personally do is I leave it on while a shave my legs and wash my body and at this point it's probably 5-6 minutes in and then I rinse it out followed by a conditioner.

- BE CAREFUL.  Like I mentioned above, this shampoo is very pigmented and your hair may lift quicker than what is does on other people, so your first time you may want to do less minutes and then gradually go longer. Nothing "bad" is going to happen to your hair other than your hair will turn purple which isn't a big deal. This happens to me sometimes and I will have the odd purple strands in my hair but I think it looks kinda cool and it washes out the next time you wash you hair so no biggy.

-Also, make sure you wash your hands right away after apply it to your hair. My hands turn purple all the time and if you have dry hands it will stain those dry areas and it's a little harder to come off. You could always use gloves if you don't want this to happen.

THE VEGAN NO YELLOW SHAMPOO

Not long ago, Fanola came out with their "Vegan" No Yellow Shampoo line that has a pH of 5.0/ 5.5 and their No Yellow Mask with a pH of 3.3/ 3.7 This shampoo and mask is formulated without Sulphates, Parabens or Silicons which is always something that I look for in all products. I knew I had to try these two out and give them a go and see how different they performed compared to the original No Yellow Shampoo.

First off, the smell of these two products smell so nice and I actually like it a lot better than the original No Yellow Shampoo (I still don't mind the smell of it either). I am not sure what it is, it's almost like a sweeter candy scent but it's not as strong and floral smelling as the original one.

The first time I used the vegan shampoo I used it no differently than the way I used the original. Meaning, I still applied to wet hair, made sure I distributed it all over my hair and I still had it sit on my hair for the 5-6 minutes. I didn't use the mask along with the shampoo for the first time as I wanted to see how different the two shampoo's performed. The result of the two were different.

The vegan was actually more potent and worked a lot quicker than the original. This makes total sense because of the pH levels. The original was 5.0/ 5.2 and the vegan is 5.0/ 5.5 making the vegan stronger.

I definitely came out of the shower with purple strands in certain areas but the other blonde areas were more crisp and ashy which is what I am looking for. There was no brass left in my hair what so ever and I found it to perform better than the original No Yellow Shampoo. Basically, I don't have to leave it on as long so the 1-3 minute is all I really need to achieve the tone I am looking for.

VEGAN NO YELLOW MASK

The Fanola No Yellow Mask has a pH level of 3.3 / 3.7 making the potency not as strong. You will also notice that the colour of it isn't as dark purple as the shampoo is either.

Using the mask is great when your hair is super brassy and you need to bring the life back to your hair. I am pretty consistent on using the purple shampoo so my hair doesn't really get a chance to go too brassy but if I were to take a break from it and wash my hair with regular shampoo then I would need to use both to get my hair back to that ashy tone that I like.

How it works:
- Apply this to towel dried hair
- Saturate all of you hair
(For better results, comb the mask through your hair for an even application)
- Leave it in for 3-5 minutes or as long as you would like
- Rinse and you are finished

There is no need to go in with a conditioner afterwards as this is like a deep conditioning toning mask that will hydrate your hair also.

Personally you can't go wrong with either the original No Yellow Shampoo or the Vegan No Yellow Shampoo. It's really a personal preference but I enjoyed the Vegan line better as it performed quicker and the fact that it is Paraben, Sulphate and Silicon free is an extra bonus that I love.

MY GO TO MAKEUP BRUSHES

Good Morning babes!

Since I have been creating more IGTV videos on Instagram, (you can follow me here) I have been getting a lot of questions on what makeup brushes I use and which brands I would recommend.

I thought it would be a great idea to write a blog post about it and share what brand of brushes I use and how I use each one. Although, when purchasing a brush for a specific job (for example, blush brush to apply blush) there is no rule that you "have" to use that brush for blush. If you can be creative and think outside of the box, you can use a "blush" brush for many different makeup applications. You can definitely save a lot of money if you buy brushes that you know you can use for other applications.

I love this brush kit from Sephora. The quality of the brushes are amazing and I haven't experienced any shedding with these either which is a major plus. I use this kit on a daily basis.

From Left to Right:

- The first one is for applying bronzer
- The second one is for applying highlight (MY FAVE)
- The third one is for contouring
- The fourth one is for applying blush

Sigma Beauty Brushes

Sigma Beauty was one of the first brands of brushes I had ever bought when I started thinking about makeup brushes. I had watched several YouTube videos with beauty guru's using this brand and raving about the quality of the brushes. They definitely were right. The quality is outstanding for the price and I have had the same brushes for seven years.

From Left to Right:

- The first brush is for applying powder/cream eyeshadow

- The second one is for applying colour in the crease of the eye. It's also great for blending out harsh edges.

- The third one is for applying bronzer. I typically use this brush the most for bronzer and have shown how I used it in my IGTV video's on Instagram

Miscellaneous Brushes

I use these brushes and Beautyblender for different reasons and that is why I put them all under "miscellaneous."

Top to Bottom:

I use the bigger brush side for applying foundation (I use it when I haven't cleaned my Beautyblender in a while) and the smaller end I use to apply concealer or I will use it to add a setting powder under the eyes.

I do use this to apply blush but because the brush is so big, I also love to use it to add powder all over the face or for an all around bronze with my bronzer powder.

I like to use this brush for applying a powder eyeliner on the top and bottom lash line and I like to use it to define the outer corner when creating a smokey eye and bringing that colour into the crease as well.

Not only is the Beautyblender great for applying foundation and under eye concealer but it's also great for applying cream bronzers, blushes and highlighters as well as powdering and setting the under eyes, T-Zone, chin area and much more.

I also got a question on Instagram on which cleaner I use to clean my Beautyblender. I use the Liquid Blendercleanser and found it works the best. I did used to use baby shampoo before I purchased the actual cleanser but I found it wasn't cleaning it properly and it still had makeup left on the sponge.

MY CURRENT EYESHADOW TUTORIAL

Hey everyone,

Since my last post on  "The Perfect Summer Eyeshadow Palette" I have had some requests that you wanted to see a tutorial on the Tarte Tartelette Toasted eyeshadow palette. It has been my go to palette since the warmer weather has arrived and I am completely obsessed with all the shades it comes with. This palette would look good on anyone, especially with bronzed skin and peachy summer cheeks.

I also used this mascara which gives good length and volume, this new gradient bronzer which gives the prettiest bronzed/highlighted cheeks that looks super natural. I then used this coral blush and this coral lipstick to finished off this whole summer makeup look.

The shades used in this video are:
1. "Cashmere" for the whole lid
2. "Candle" for the center of the lid
3. "Warmth" in the crease and under the bottom lashline
4. "Sunrise" for the inner corner of the eye and under the brow bone

THE PERFECT SUMMER EYESHADOW PALETTE

Hey babes!

When it comes to summer, I tend to change up my makeup routine, especially on my eyes. I wanted to share with you an eyeshadow palette that I picked up on the last Sephora Bonus Event sale and one that I have been absolutely loving these days.

When I am looking for a palette, I always look for ones that are super pigmented because for one a little goes a long way and your palette lasts that much longer and two you will achieve the prettiest eye looks because the shade are true to colour.

It's the Tarte Tartelette Toasted eyeshadow palette. "Toasted" says it all. If you love warm browns and coppery peachy pink tones than you will absolutely love this palette. I like wearing these shades in the spring and summer months because it pairs nicely with a tan and a summer bronzed up makeup look. These shades go hand in hand with bronzey peach cheeks and highlighted cheekbones.

I love to wear this bronzer and blush when I use this palette.

This palette has 7 matte shades and the other 5 are shimmery shades. They are all made with Amazonian Clay which allows these shades to stay on all day without creasing. I still like to use an eyeshadow primer as I have oily lids and the one I use is this one

My go to combo right now is:
"Cashmere" for the whole lid
"Candle" for the middle of the lid
"Warmth" in the crease
"Cozy" in the outer corner
"Sunrise" for under the brows and in the inner corner of the eye

Let me know if you would like to see an eye tutorial on this and don't forget to follow me on Instagram.

This post was not sponsored by Tarte Cosmetics. Everything mentioned in this post is my own personal thoughts and opinions.
